Glossary of English "Unit 5"

Criminals:

-Armed robber:the person who stealing the properties of other people
-burglar:a person who commits burglary.
-Detective:A person, usually a member of a police force, who investigates crimes and obtains evidence or information.
-fraudster: a swindler
-Judge:A public official who hears and decides cases brought in court.
-lawyer:One whose profession is to give legal advice and assistance to clients and represent them in court or in other legal matters.
-Mugger:One who commits a mugging
-murderer:One who commits murder.
-Police officer:A policeman or policewoman
-private investigator:A person privately hired to do investigative or detective work
-Thief:One who commits the act or crime of theft.
-traffic warden:a person who is appointed to supervise road traffic and report traffic offences

Crimes:

-Arson:The crime of intentionally and illegally setting fire to a building or other structure
-blackmail:Extortion of money or something else of value from a person by the threat of exposing a criminal act or discreditable information.
-Burglary:The act of entering another's premises without authorization in order to commit a crime, such as theft.
-Drug-dealing:buys and sells illegal drugs
-forgery:Something that has been forged, especially a document that has been copied or remade to look like the original
-Identity theft:The act of obtaining and fraudulently using passwords, account numbers, or other personal or company information, typically for financial gain.
-kidnapping:To abduct or confine (a person) forcibly, by threat of force, or by deceit, without the authority of law.
-pickpocketing:is a form of larceny that involves the stealing of money or other valuables from the person of a victim without their noticing the theft at the time
-Shop-lifting:steals gooods from a shop while pretending to be a customer
-Smuggling:
The criminal offense of intentionally and secretively bringing an item into a country without declaring it to customs officials and paying the associated duties or taxes, or of bringing a prohibited item into a country
-speeding:Moving with speed.
-Vandalism:Willful or malicious damage or destruction of the property of another
